On Monday 4th March Godolphin and Latymer school hosted the London middle year debate. Schools involved in the challenge included Golophin, Putney High, St Paul’s Girls, Sacred Heart, Ibstock Place, Healthside and of course More House. The motion decided for the unprepared debate was ‘this house would abolish coursework’. More House teams set about developing strong arguments for and against the motion and delivered their speeches with fluency, flair and skill.
Charlotte and Abi were our chief debaters from year 11, ably supported by Natasha, Marie-Isablle and Olivia, and from Year 10 Maddy D and Celeste battled their way through the debate with great vigour and focus. Their partnership had support from other year 10 girls, Isabel, Alia and Maddy P, with Isobel and Alia acting as time keepers to other teams. Their commitment was greatly appreciated and Mr Hegarty has great hopes for them all in future debates, particularly at sixth form level.
Charlotte, Abi and Natasha, relieved it is all over and rightly pleased with their contribution!
Well done to all.
