Welcome back after the Half Term holiday. I hope that you had a good one and that you feel refreshed and ready for the run-up for Christmas. It feels strange to be talking about Christmas already, with Guy Fawkes Night barely behind us, but I was staggered to see from the School’s calendar that in three week’s time the Christmas tree will be arriving in School. This will be a bitter-sweet moment for me because this will be my last More House Christmas tree and seeing a tree arrive in school and be decorated by a mixture of the youngest and oldest in the school community is a very special feeling ~ it is as ‘Christmasy’ as a roaring log fire.
The Greece Music Tour seems to have been a great success, and I am sure that we will learn more when the More In Depth article comes out and possibly even a dvd. Apparently there were a greater than usual number of ‘Kleenex moments’ from the UVIth as this will be their last tour.
As I write, the History Group are in Berlin in connection with their studies. I understand that it is much warmer and drier there than it is here, so lucky them! Again no doubt information will follow in More In Depth.
Just a reminder, as if you need one, of the fact that next week sees the Annual Prize-giving on Thursday evening. You will have already received both your invitation and also details of arrangements in terms of how they affect your daughter. I do hope that you will be able to attend this important event in the Jubilee Year and also to join the Governors afterwards at their Jubilee Reception. If you have not done so already please take a moment to reply to the invitation by e-mail to the Office.
And finally: a welcome to a new member of Staff, in the form of Ms Atti, who has is our new Marketing and Communications Assistant. Readers will also be pleased to hear that
Mrs Clapham has had her baby ~ a little girl ~ and that mother and child are doing well.
With best wishes for an autumnal weekend,
Robert Carlysle

The Prayer in the Chapel this week:
Thanks be to You for the gifts You give me … for Your eye watching over me, for Your
comforting arm around me: for each gift thanks be to You. The best gift is Yourself to me.
