Dear Parents,
It has been another great, highly productive week in school. You will have already seen the photos from last Friday’s Inspirational Women’s charity mufti day. That was great fun and raised a good sum for our charity. Next week is going to be all about charity as well as it is Sports Relief Week which culminates in the School taking part in the Sports Fancy Dress Mile Run in Hyde Park at 3.30pm. Your daughter will have received her sponsor form and I do hope that you will be able to support this very good cause. More details will follow from Mr Garwood I am sure.
This week we had 3 different trips go out, a sports fixture, more choir rehearsals than you can shake a stick at, a Drama rehearsal, a More’s Household ‘food for thought’ lunch, a Parents’ Evening (my last ever!) and the A2 Drama Exams. This last was a wonderful occasion as usual. The Devised Pieces, which the girls write themselves, were as dark as ever ~ powerful, effective and very moving but just not much fun ~ whilst the Scripted Pieces were all funny and delivered in such a way as to make the language live. One of the many things I am going to miss when I retire at the end of this term is having my own private theatre company who regularly put on new, thought-provoking material for me and don’t even charge me to watch! I also thoroughly enjoyed hosting a More’s Household ‘food for thought lunch’ where I took as my theme ‘Food’ and posed the question: ‘ Food is a significant factor in the development and sustaining of civilisation’. It was such a pleasure to spend a lunchtime playing with ideas with a group of sparky, intelligent scholars.
And finally: a few reminders: I shall be away from School for part of next week conducting an ISI Inspection; tickets are on sale from the School Office for: The Spring Concert; the Celebration of Talents; Madness took me. Book now to avoid disappointment!
With best wishes for a sunny weekend
Robert Carlysle
