On Saturday evening, a group of budding netballers, Miss Minto, Mr Garwood and the Leach family, went to Guildford to watch Surrey Storm play Manchester Thunder. It was a great game with 92 goals being scored, lots of cheering, music and the obligatory autographs and photographs with the players at the end. Watching a high level of netball being played, obviously inspired the girls as they have had a tremendous week on the netball court. We beat Portland Place on Tuesday (yr7 11-4 and yr 8 9-7) and St James’ on Wednesday (yr7 8-6). Well done to all the players.
The Tenner Challenge continues until the end of the month and we were very lucky to have Richard Farleigh come and visit and talk to some of the groups about their ideas and give them some tips about running a successful business. I am intrigued to find out at the end of the month who will be our top entrepreneurs and also to see how much money we have raised for charity.
It was an exciting week for the sixth form Art Historians. Alex Fielding, director of AHA’s ‘Bigger Picture’ came in to More House to deliver a two hour lecture on the meaning of Modern and its origins. The girls covered artists from Courbet to Duchamp, and came out feeling thoroughly modern and also hopefully prepared for the summer exams!
We have our fingers crossed for the weather tomorrow for the Sports Relief mile. So if you see spot some strange looking girls and staff walking up Sloane Street around 3.45pm- it’s us! No doubt there will be some photos from the event in next week’s blog.
Have a lovely weekend.
