Dear Parents,
Welcome back to my weekly ‘views’. It was a lovely feeling opening the door hearing the chatter, feeling the buzz and seeing lots of smiley faces. The theme of my first assembly was ‘Change’ and there has certainly been lots of that over the summer holiday. A new web site (www.morehouse.org.uk), new PE kit, redecoration of all communal areas, refurbishment of the Office, new boilers to keep us warm, new computers in the computer room, upgraded broadband, new More House exercise books, a school prayer book, and an information screen showing pictures, tweets and even the lunch menu! Come and have a look if you are passing.
I would like to welcome all the new girls throughout the school and their families and also the new staff to our wonderful community; Mr Anstice (Head of Music), Mrs Tunnicliffe (Classics), Miss Travers (English), Mrs Gbadeyan (Chemistry), Mr Carroll (French and German), Ms Hill (Counsellor), Miss Bernsten (Drama) and Mr LaFrenais (Geography).
Over the summer, a group of Sixth Form girls with Mr Robertson and Miss Brown went to Thailand and Cambodia to complete an eco-project. Look out for Charlotte De Vega’s story and pictures on her new Head Girl’s Blog.
The other summer news was our examination results, in which the GCSE and A level girls increased the overall pass rate from last year by nearly 10%. This was an excellent achievement and shows the hard work that they all put in. We are very proud of them all.
Next week sees the start of a series of information and social evenings for the Year 9,10 and 11 parents and also a Year 13 parents’ evening. Look out for the reminders.
I look forward to seeing you all soon at the various school events. Feel free to follow me on Twitter (@head_mhs) for some fly on the wall news.
Have a lovely weekend
Mrs Amanda Leach

Prayer for the week:
Dear Lord,
We thank you for the opportunity
to begin this new school year,
and we ask that you bless
the girls, staff, and our families
that make our school a great place.
We pray that you will guide us in all ways,
so that we will seek your will
in everything that we do.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Sounds like a brilliant start to the term. More House leads the way!
