Dear Parents,

I hope you are all rested after the half term break. I was very lucky to be able to join the Music Tour in Rome as one of their ‘groupies’ alongside a number of parents. We were treated to some wonderful performances in the most magical churches. As you may know we were given the opportunity to be part of the Beatification of Pope Paul VI which was celebrated by Pope Francis. Well, what an incredible experience. As I walked into St Peter’s Square the girls voices, singing ‘Psalm 150’ (by John Harper) were coming out of the loud speakers- what a moment! Later on in the service, Miss Ho took to the conductors podium and led the girls in singing ‘Love Divine’ (by Howard Goodall). It was reported in the press that 75,000 were in the square, with a live TV feed through the Vatican News. Not bad for a small school! After a long morning at the Vatican, the girls had another Mass in the evening in another part of Rome. As professional as they always are they performed as well as they had that morning, even though I knew that they were absolutely exhausted. Well done to the girls and staff for an amazing trip! Look out for further reports in the coming weeks.

We returned to school after half term, minus the GCSE and A level Geographers as they were off to Somerset to complete their coursework. The enthusiastic Geographers set off expecting to undertake some exciting fieldwork in wet weather – they were not disappointed! Our GCSE Geographers collected data for their controlled assessment on Coastal Management at Minehead and our A-level students devised and undertook their own Urban Investigation in preparation for their Geographical Skills exam in the Summer. Well done to all of the girls for their hard work.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at Prize Giving next week when we celebrate all the wonderful achievements of the last academic year.

Have a restful weekend.
