Views from the Headmistress’ study – 5th December 2014

Dear Parents,

This is not something we usually do but this week I want to shout from the top of the building! We have had an exceptional week of awards and achievements. On Monday, I had the pleasure of awarding Tara in Yr9  an award for her participation in the London Youth Games. Tara is an exceptional swimmer, runner and rower and was a member of the Kensington and Chelsea Team. After the Games she was awarded the ‘Spirit of the Games’- well done Tara!

Mr Hegarty took his Junior Debating Team off to a competition against Putney High and Twyford School to stand their ground with ‘This House believes that single sexed education should be banned’ The team consisted of Manaal and Stella (yr8) and Sofia (yr7). They convincingly beat Putney High and were one point short of overcoming Twyford. The girls did extremely well, as I myself  have witnessed the intensity of these competitions.

The Year 8’s have been working hard over the last few weeks putting together their wonderful hampers for the charity Cheer which supports families less fortunate than ourselves. I have seen some of the amazing items which they have put into the hampers and I know that they will bring a smile to lots of people’s faces. Thank you Year 8.

The final award of the week came from the Good Schools Guide who have seen the incredible Art pieces that the girls create and we are the Winner of the Good Schools Guide Award for Excellence for Girls taking Art & Design, an award the girls and Ms Beatty, Miss Rigby and Miss Devine thoroughly deserve.
