Thursday night saw 40 girls depart for the PE Rewards Trip in recognition of their outstanding commitment to extra-curricular activity and sport. It was a fun-filled evening of bouncing, dodgeball, basketball and somersaulting into a giant foam pit at the mega trampoline park, Air Hop in Guildford. It was great to see so many girls bouncing around, challenging each other at the dodgeball and showing off their rather well honed gymnastics skills!
We have had a hugely successful term in the PE Department. There have been many wins over local Independent schools and the Borough League in our netball fixtures, the swim squad won their first swimming gala against Queen’s Gate and the running club has been growing in numbers each week. It has been brilliant to see so many girls participating, particularly those who may not favour the team sports but have found solace in the individual fitness based activities.
Special mention should go to our year group winners who attended the highest number of sports clubs within the term; Katharine Oakes and Hope Healy in Year 7, Olivia Bogle in Year 8, Molly Chapman in Year 9, Lucy Aylmer in Year 10 and Maria Perez-Hernandez in Year 11. Maria attended a might 54 clubs this term. Their prizes will be presented at the Sportswoman’s Awards Evening in the summer term.
