A celebration of the spoken word took place in the drama studio yesterday.
There was a selection of poetry and Shakespeare extracts spoken from memory by girls from a range of years. The House competition was very engaging and impressive as the girls put in so much effort (it is not easy to learn a variety of texts off by heart and then speak them aloud – to an audience).
Incorporated in this event were Poetry by Heart hopefuls, Myriam, Helena and Ines who have been entered for this national competition. More details will follow as one of these contestants will go forward to a Central London Poetry by Heart challenge, where they will recite their poetry against a variety of other schools.
Mr Hegarty would like to thank all those who have taken part, particularly as his House, Walsingham, won the competition!
