Dear Parents,

Last night a group of parents, staff and girls had a fun evening listening to one of our parents Ginni Bogle, a professional makeup artist to the stars, give us some helpful tips on makeup – what to do and more importantly what not to do! We were made up, had nibbles and drinks, bought some products and had time to chat. What is a girl not to like about that? Thank you to the Parents’ Association and Ginni for such a fun evening. All raised funds were for the Staff who are running the marathon (still time to donate – https://www.justgiving.com/morehousemarathon2015)

The Tenner Challenge has begun where groups of girls are given £10 and have to make as much profit as they possibly can in one month. I have a feeling that I will be eating lots of cakes in the next few weeks!

Mr Hegarty sent me this report from the English Department:

‘This week in English classes years 7, 8 and 9 girls revelled in the delight of seeing their work in print as they collected their copies of the poetry anthology ‘War on Words’.

They had submitted poems on the theme of conflict and it is pleasing that several were thought to be good enough to included in The  2015 Young Writer’s publication.

The girls had been studying poetic techniques in class, looking at how effective they were in war poetry. We talked about wars and uprisings in class and they conducted some research about conflicts around the world and considered how such conflicts changed lives so dramatically.

Then they wrote a selection of poems using some of the poetic techniques discussed in class. Their poems dealt with loss and injury, both emotional and physical and were very vivid and engaging. So for those budding writers the publication is exciting stuff.

Well done to all’

Old Girls Jasmine, Gina and Oti (Leavers 2013) came to visit today, have a look round, see the changes, reminisce and tell us all about the wonderful things they have been up to since leaving. I love how central we are, that old faces pop in to say hello.
