Today is Mufti Day in aid of the London Community Foundation, the sun is shining and it is Friday~ no wonder the girls came in with a spring in their step and smiles on their faces. A massive good luck to all our staff who are running the Marathon on Sunday for the Foundation. I hope they will be able to walk up our stairs on Monday! Thank you to everyone who has sponsored them. If you would still like to donate to the Foundation there is still time. Please sponsor our runners on https://www.justgiving.com/morehousemarathon2015.
So far they have raised £10,704.56 which is an incredible amount!
This week our year 10 geographers embarked on a field trip in order to collect data in preparation for the writing up of their GCSE controlled assessment. On Monday morning Mr La Frenais, Miss Jones and 16 enthusiastic geographers set off for Nettlecombe Court near Taunton in North Somerset. Expecting three days of typical field work conditions, in other words, driving wind and rain, the students were instead treated to 3 days of sunshine, clear blue skies, patchy mobile phone coverage and misfiring wifi – ideal conditions for a successful field trip. Students assessed ‘Environmental Quality’ and ‘Action against Crime’ as part of their investigation into the impacts of tourism in Minehead and are now back in school writing up their controlled assessments with verve and vigour.
In Mass this week with Yr10, we spent time thinking about St George. It was interesting to compare the dragon which he slayed to possible modern day ‘dragons’ we ourselves come up against every day. The example which was given made us think about how we treat others just because they are different. I thought Amara’s prayer was particularly poignant and you can read it below.
Mr Keeley has orchestrated his own More House Election and the various party leaders were introduced to us in assembly this week. I am looking forward to seeing their campaigns in the run up to our own election on May 7th. Here are the Party Leaders:
Congratulations to all the girls who took music exams last term. Everyone passed and particular congratulations goes to Caroline who achieved a distinction in her Grade 1 singing exam. Well done to everyone!
To those of you who would like a memento of the Easter Choral Concert or for those of you who were unable to join us for this spectacular event, there are a limited number of DVD’s on sale. Please contact the Office for an order form. During one of our rehearsals for the concert, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber was passing by and stopped to hear us sing- he could not believe that we were a school choir. Say no more!
Have a lovely weekend,

Prayer of the Week
Thank you for the life you have blessed us with,
Thank you for our privileges in life.
Let us walk each other home, in happiness and peace,
Let us speak words of kindness,
Hear words of love,
See the good in people and in situations
And let our heart be full of compassion, belief and strength
So we can be the change that needs to happen.
