Views from the Headmistress’ study – 5th June 2015

Dear Parents,

There is an eery silence around parts of the school as the GCSE and A level public examinations continue. Although the older girls are on study leave, a lot of them have been working in the Library and having last minute revision clinics with subject staff.

The highlight of this week must have been the annual Art Exhibition. We welcomed back to More House, Camilla Yagdaroff (Leaver 2008) to present the prizes. She is now working as an Architecture and Design Coordinator at Swarovski and has worked in some beautiful places such as the Palace of Versailles. I caught her having a sneaky look at our chandelier in the Dining Room! The school was transformed into a wonderful gallery, showing off incredible creations from Year 7 animals through to stunning pieces by the A level girls. The standard and variety of Art is incredible and I would like to thank Ms Beatty, Ms Rigby and Miss Devine for giving the girls so much inspiration.

Camilla presented the Art Prizes 2015 to:

Year 7: Sonya and Sofia

Year 8: Stella, Elena and Juliette

Year 9: Cara and Anastasia

Year 10 Lydia and Marie

Year 11: Meryem

LVIth Paniz

UVIth Domenica and Zara

Congratulations to everyone who exhibited and won prizes.

It was lovely to be able to show off the Art Exhibition for another day, when we held a coffee morning for prospective parents. I called upon the help of some of the Year 8 girls to talk to our visitors about all the wonderful opportunities and events that they get involved with and show them that there is ‘More than just the classroom’ here at More House. They did a great job and it was lovely to see them so honest and animated about their life at school.

Today the Year 7 set off early to sunny Sussex to visit the medieval splendour of Bodiam castle, where they will be dressing up and exploring the castle and grounds.

Next week is exam week and so all I can do is wish the girls lots of luck.

Have a lovely weekend,

Amanda Leach

A Prayer from 7S Mass

Dear God,

We pray for our community at More House School and for all who live and work in this area, that we can prosper in our studies and work. We pray for all of the students who are studying for exams and help us and them to produce their best work.

God our friend, we pray for our families and friends. May we be able to help each other just as you love and help us.

God of love hear us.
