Welcome back after the long summer holiday. The girls seemed excited to be back or was it due to it being only a two day week! In assembly I spoke about how lots of things have changed over the summer. Firstly we have; from new experiences and new friends and the School has; from newly decorated classrooms and new furniture (although there is a steel shortage at the moment and we are waiting for all the desks to arrive), new toilets and a new kitchen. Please come and have a look if you are passing.
It is lovely to welcome all the new girls throughout the school and their families and also the new staff to our wonderful community; Mrs Buck (RS), Miss Owen (History), Miss Dennis (PE), Mr Fordham (English), Mrs Soltani (Maths), Miss Clench (Chemistry), Miss Stajonovic (French), Miss Taahan (Chemistry), Miss Dale (Music), Mrs Scott (Physics), Miss Jackson (Drama), Mr Caro (Spanish), Mrs Hunt (History of Art) and Miss Gunner (Learning Support).
Lots of the girls have come back after experiencing a wonderful summer. Look out over the next few weeks for Anastasia’s account of her amazing climb of the Matterhorn, which makes her the youngest British girl (aged 13) to conquer this mountain and Emma’s expedition to the depths of Peru with the Young British Exploring Society.
It gives me great pleasure to report that our GCSE and A level girls triumphed in their examinations. Well done everyone and it shows that hard work pays off!
Next week sees the start of a series of information and social evenings for the Year 8,9,10 and 11 parents and also Sixth Form. Look out for the reminders.
I look forward to seeing you all soon at the various school events. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter (@head_mhs) for some fly on the wall news.
Have a lovely weekend

with knowledge and maturity.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
