Dear Parents,
As I write, all of Year 8 have gone to watch the European Aquatics Championships at the Olympic Park. Hopefully, they will see the World Champions, Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina (RUS) performing their synchro routine https://youtu.be/jkE6ZZr_a_o and the World Series Champion, Tonia Couch (GBR) diving off the 10m board. https://youtu.be/AuuurUDkYZA
Big congratulations to Olivia in Year 8 who has been selected to join the Middlesex Satellite Netball squad. Well done!
The school was full of music yesterday with the girls practicing and performing for the annual music competition. Congratulations to all of the entrants and thank you to Michael Jeffrey for adjudicating. Michael is a local composer who has recently written a piece for our senior chamber choir. They will be performing the piece at the summer concert, along with the winners of the competition.

We have now officially signed up over 90 girls, staff, mums, aunts, cousins and friends to complete Race for Life on Wednesday 8th June at Battersea Park 7pm. Our JustGiving page is now live and you can sponsor us here. Last year we raised over £3,000 with an original target of £1,000. Can we beat this?
The Art Department have been marking the GCSE and A level work ready for the examiners’ visits. The girls’ work is looking stunning and I hope that you can come along to the Art Exhibition to see work from Year 7 up to A level.
On Wednesday the 5th of May, GCSE and AS Level drama students enjoyed an exciting trip to Shakespeare’s Globe to experience Emma Rice’s much anticipated adaptation of A Mid Summer Night’s Dream. The girls were transported into the magical realm of Tatiana and Oberon’s Fairy Kingdom and were gripped by the plight of the four Athenian lovers – though in this adaption, they were in fact ‘Hoxton Hipsters’. The enchanting and melodic use of the sitar throughout the performance brought much energy and fun to the unfolding drama. The girls laughed, cheered and applauded throughout the entire performance, revelling in this unusual and intriguing piece of theatre.
Mrs Hunt (Head of History of Art) has some recommendations for visits to art galleries this summer https://youtu.be/E2p77rIGmAA and http://www.artfund.org/news/2016/05/10/five-summer-blockbusters-2016
If any of you are walking in Bishops Park or along Putney Embankment on Saturday at around 5pm, look out for the More House rowing team. They will be rowing from Mile Post (Fulham) to/from the Ranelagh Sailing Club Flagpole. Good luck to Aoife, Flora, Sky, Alex and Grace who are competing in their first ever regatta.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Amanda Leach
