What an incredibly busy few days we’ve been having! Read on to find out more about our Start of Term Mass, Sports Day, the New Parents’ Drinks, and more.
Music Tour Fundraiser
It was wonderful hearing the tour choir rehearsing for their upcoming tour. They are holding a fundraiser next Thursday evening, to which all parents, students, and staff are warmly invited. It will be a fun evening filled with food, entertainment, a raffle, and an auction. Regardless of whether your daughter will be going on the choir tour, it is certainly not an evening to miss! Please contact the office for the last few remaining tickets.
New Parents’ Drinks
A huge thank you to the More House Parents’ Association for welcoming new parents to the More House family, by hosting a drinks party on Wednesday evening. The sixth form did an excellent job “babysitting” the girls, entertaining them with pizza and a film, while their parents, MHPA committee members, and senior leadership team got acquainted and discussed how quickly the new girls are settling into the More House way.
Jeans for Genes Day
Today was Jeans for Genes day, an annual national fundraiser we partake in to support Genetic Disorders UK. This charity carries out important work improving the lives of individuals and families living with a genetic disorder. Every penny will help fund projects that provide nursing care, equipment, activity weekends, online support, and counseling. We’ll update you on how much money we raised as soon as it’s been counted!
Mass & Sports Day
Thank you to Father Lawrence for presiding over our Start of Year Mass yesterday morning at St Mary’s, Cadogan Street. The church was fuller than ever and his sermon reminded us to be grateful for what we have, to always work hard with a smile – even when the going gets tough, and to be compassionate to those around us. The girls certainly took these words of advice to heart and this was evident as soon as they took to the track and field at Battersea Arena. There were some incredibly fantastic performances, with several school records broken. Miss Minto will report back with a full list next week.
Mrs Leach’s heart dropped when she was asked by Iona to compete in the 4×4 100m relay race, especially as Mr Keeley would be competing in the lane next to hers. Thankfully, her nerves were needless – although Iona didn’t win the race, she certainly gave Mr Keeley a run for his money. And Iona did win Sports Day, for the sixth year running! Congratulations to all students and staff, and big congratulations to the parents who joined in the joint staff and parents relay.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Next Wednesday, the sixth form are hosting the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. Do join us for tea, coffee, and cakes in school between 10:00 and 11:00 and help us fundraise for this important charity.
We’re looking forward to yet another busy week next week – stay tuned for an even busier newsletter!
